Yes take the cover off the top of dis. toy will have to unplug wires on outside of dis. The coil has 2 on r 3 wires running over to where those wires plugged in. The coil is the first thing you see when remove the cover on dis.

I was going to work on it Saturday and we had a snowstorm/blizzard here in Utah from hell. So being it is in the driveway and colder than cold I will try to get to it this weekend. I will update you with my findings. Thank you for your help.

Hey MD, wanna bet it's a brittle wire at the bottom of the pick-up to the module? That (I think they call it a "hall effect" pick-up) moved on those didn't it? Remember replacing that thing on my 75 TA, my wife's 76 Olds and later on my 84 Caprice. Guess we'll have to wait until Saturday though.

Hall effect sensor or pick up same thing. If it is bad he will not have the flashing negative.

That is the step I had you do with test light connected to postive post on battery and touching wire on the coil

the problem I had, was like you said just died and wouldnt start!

I took the cap off and found a burnt wire going to the ignition module

so make sure the wires are good also

another thing is check the power wire going into the distributor I have had that wire break before and do the same thing
