Default 91 Silveraldo Won't Start/Turn When Hot

Hello everyone. I have been having this problem for some time and I just do not know what to do anymore.

I have a 91 Silveraldo 1/2 ton Pickup 350 5.7 liter that refuses to start when the truck is hot. If it won't start, I have to wait about 3 hours for it to start again.

I have replaced the starter about 8 times and I recently replaced it with a Refurbished AC Delco starter. Two days later, it once again didn't start. I have also replaced the battery and cabling.

What else could keep this truck from turning when its hot? When I turn the key, nothing happens. It won't even crank. Just completely dead until it cools again.

Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

did u replace the heat shield when u changed the starter? if the solenoid gets too hot then it wont start sometimes, 1 thing i would try is a 96-98 starter, they are gear reduction and handle the heat better

Try dist cap and rotor. My 98 did the same when hot. Came to find out the rotor under the cap was worn out and had corrosion on the cap.

The cap and rotor is a good suggestion. You might also want to try removing the spark plugs when this happens. If the engine cranks with the plugs out you most likely have a vapor lock condition happening.

Maybe fuel?
Even with dist cap and rotor bad i was still gettin spark but it was very intermittent and almost seemed like it was weak spark.

did you check the ignition switch in the steering column? high miles huh?

What happens to the dash when you turn the key? Do the gauges light up? Do you hear clicks? Does nothing happen? Does the radio black out?

Sounds true. Wonder what it does when he turns the key though? I mean he went through 8 starters and no one thought to replace the heat shield??
