Default 97 k1500 rear end swap

i believe i have 3.73's. but for some reason i have it stuck in my head i want to swap for 3.42's
i have a 5.7 vortec and 33" mud tires. what difference will the 3.42's make.? on highway... through town... offroad... and advice would help. thanks

If you've gone to larger tires, you'll want to swap your rear for a 4.10. That should return the final drive ratio to what it was before you swapped the tires to larger ones. If it's a 4x4, don't forget to swap the front gears too.

thanks. i wasnt even thinking about the 4wheel. how much additional torque would the 4.10 be?

No idea, but with the larger tires, it'll probably return it to close to stock specs.
