Exclamation 97 z71 leaking some sort of oil?

i have 97 z71 with a 350 vortec...my front skid plate shows oil on left hand side but one of the rods for my right front wheel shows alot of oil and a very very slow leak. i have no idea where or what is causing the leak...i every fluid looked normal...power steering, trans., engine..and help would be greatly appreciated

is it the cv axel thats got alot on it?

yeah i believe so...(has a black rubber boot?) there is some other rod that bolts into it and it is coming through the crease

the cv axel goes from your wheel to the front diff. are you saying the front diff is leaking?? the diff will have 2 shafts coming out of each side to each wheel.. if its the cv i think you have to replace it

i dont think that it is the dif...... looks like the 2 pieces that go together right before the rubber boot

how would i know which one was bad if there are oil spot on the skid plate by dif. and by the boot

differential is probably leaking and running down.

could be what speedy said.. it might be dripping down and the cv is throwing it everywhere

it has been super hot here lately could it possibly be that the grease is just thinning out because of the heat?...there are no drip spots on the driveway just builds up around cv boot from time to time

Check the level of the fluid in your differential. If its full look for more solutions, if it is getting low, you may have found the solution.
