Default 98 k1500 4x4 Brake problems

My rear brakes seem like they are always on. Pedal for the most part seems fine but sometimes when depressed it is at the top of range? Also when stopped at a light when taking off I get a noise that seems like the brakes are stuck? Not sure what is going on. Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks

Check your emergency brakes.I have a 98 and had a yearly inspection done on it.The mechanic checked the rear brakes and said everything was fine. Now when i left the shop,i felt the rear brakes were slightly on.I though the shop might have adjusted them up and the would seat themself in time. But after a few days one tire would lock up randomly ,so i took the tire off and the emergency brake cable end was being pinched by the shoe, which in turn would engage the emergency brake on that tire.So i just took a flat blade screwdriver and pried the cable end out bit and it fixed the problem.
