I recently had the CPS replaced in my truck. The mechanic drove itfor about 15 miles afterwards with no problems. I drove it home about 2 miles futherno problems. Next morning the truck will hardly run, same problem as before. Drove back to the shop, and did another step which called for the motor to be run up to 4500rpm for the computer to reset somehow. Seemed better but still has the miss but not as bad. Is there any futherr steps to take in solving this problem???
Thanks.

I don't know about the "4500rpm" thing but there's a CKP system variation learn procedure that requires the scan tool. Unless by "CPS" you don't mean the crankshaft position sensor?

It's something they do in the service department after changing a CKP sensor, i.e., hook up a Tech 2, select CKP system variation learn procedure, and then follow the direction it gives. The way I understand, it calibrates the VCM to the new CKP sensor. There must be slight signal variation among sensors.

How bad of a miss? I do not think cps was your problem from the start.
What code was you getting? I know you have to hold vehicle speed above 1200 rpm,s to time it. Have you done a tune up on it ? Are you getting a check engine light now ?
