AC/heater selector switch

AC/heater selector switch
I have a 1995 Z71 Silverado. The selector switch for the AC & heater to put air on defrost or blowing just out the vents doesn't seem to switch to just one or the other. It seems to be switching some but still blowers out both not one or the other. Also I'm finding some sort of gasket material that has fallen out of the floor vent? Please help!
