Hey, I've got a 2000 Silverado 1500 2wd sclb with the 4.3L V6. Right now my truck sits really low and the drivers side sits about 2 inches lower than the passengers. Im looking to make my truck sit level at least side to side and also able to handle more weight. I'm definately pushing the limits on this truck's weight capacity and have had the frame sitting on the axle more than once. So what my question is is add-a-leaf the best way to go about doing this or are there any other suggestions out there. Thanks in advance.

 

better find out what is making it lean first and if it's the front or the rear causing the problem .how much are you wanting to haul extra ? if a leaf spring on one side is weak or has a broken leaf you can have it replaced ,it can be tough chasing a lean .you can add rear air bag kits to give you additional capicity .

 

Google "chevy lean" its a common problem

 

I already know that the cause of the lean is the fact that my fuel tank and I are both on the same side and over the last 11 years it has just worn out the drivers side leafs and coil. There arent any broken springs just worn out. And im not too concerned about the rake just the side lean.

 

i would just put a air bag kit on the rear and level it side to side with air .unless you want to replace the springs!

 

replace the leaf and the coil springs..see how it sits then and then get your add-a-leafs put in

 

Thanks for the input. I was lookin on the internet and saw that chevy actually made a spacer kit to fix it, I was thinkin though instead of buying the kit could i just cut a piece of metal that is thick enough to put in between the axle and springs, or would that not work?

 

you can make shim's and spacers to fit spring steel or cast iron work's better than mild steel .

 

Alright I think Ill go thoat route, itll be cheaper than replacing the springs. Thanks
