Air intake resonator
I was wondering; what is the purpose of the air intake resonator? Specifically, for those who don't know, the black plastic 'box' with Vortec embossed on it. I was considering removing mine and putting a secondary small filter in its place.
Also, in the air filter housing, there is a tube leading into the fender panel, which is obviously where the air comes in, but there's also a square box coming off of that tube; what is the purpose of that; would that also be another resonator? What effects should I see if I 'removed' them from the air flow?

I would definitely replace it with a CAI but I'm not in the position to buy one yet. That's my next step. Would it be okay to remove the resonator and put that small filter over the hole until I get a CAI?

Before I got my CAI kit , I cut it off and then found a peice of plastic the size of the hole and melted it in place with a hot rod heated with my mapp gas. It sealed it up good.

I think I'm going to delete both of my resonators in my intake while I'm installing my throttle body spacer tomorrow. Thanks for the input guys!

I 'deleted' both of my intake resonators, but the bolts holding the Throttle Body were way too short to install the Throttle Body Spacer; literally, WAY too short. Any suggestions as to what this means, or what I should do?

There wasn't any way that I could see to get those bolts out; they seemed to be a part of my intake manifold. Unless I'm just being dumb. Ideas?
