Alternator output way too high

Alternator output way too high

Well ny battery is fully charged and the alternator is putting out 17 volts all the time. I tried 3 different alternators including a 1 wire with no change. I put an extra ground directly to the alternator mount thinking it might of been a ground problem with no change. Help !!!!!

Year and model, engine size and accessories? Check the voltage at the battery? Did you reuse the old pully or did the new alt.'s come equipped with a new one? How old is the battery?

Its a 92 454SS with all options

What is the voltage at the battery when running? Did you reuse the old pully? How old is the battery and did it pass a load test?

I checked the voltage while running across the battery and its 14.5 which leads me to think its the guage which is bad. Voltage when off is 12.2. I have a new one wire on it now.
