Default Cabin fan, no workie till position 3-4 and 5. why come?

I am looking at a 2001 Silverado in very nice condition.

The cabin fan (heat, A/C) doesn't work till you turn it all the way up.

Is this a control issue at the switch, somewhere else, or the fan itself?

How hard is it to replace?

Thanks.

It is probably the fan motor resister. It is located under the dash by the blower motor.

Can anyone give me any info on replacing it?

For example, where it is. How much digging required to get to it etc.

My truck has the remote Cassette Tape unit mounted below the dash in the upper half of the center console. I need to reattach the power lead to it which was cut and used in an aftermarket radio installation. I want to use it to run my iPod. So, I will be tearing into that section of the truck and I may as well do both at once.

It is under the dash on the right side behind the glove box. You have to remove a cover underneath the dash first.

OK Found it, changed it. Fixed it.

That mother gets HOT! No wonder it failed.

Thanks for the info.
