Cannot turn ignition key to start truck ('05 Siverado), steering wheel will not lock but truck is not running and is in "park" - have cleaned key, have greased key, jacked up front end and turned steering wheel all the way to right and then left but it will not lock. Have disconnected battery and reconnected and checked all fuses. HELP.

 

Is it the original key or a dupe? I have one whose dupe keys quit working, and had to get new keys made at the dealer. Still a little sticky at times, but it works now.

 

sounds like the key-lock cylinder has sheared - put key in and try to start your truck, if nothing happens, take it out and flip key and do it again. If nothing.
pull steering wheel either direction while trying to start. Your lock cylinder is broken and needs to be replaced - happened on my friends truck thats got a 10" lift

 

yeah, sounds like the key ignition switch needs to be replaced.
