Cant shift into 4-wheel drive! Help!
I have a Chevy Silverado 2009 model, and it has the shifter in the floor for 4-wheel drive. When I try to shift into 4-wheel drive, my light doesn't come on and it won't shift into 4-low or 4-high. I'm not sure how to correct this problem, or what might be wrong with it. Any and all advice is appreciated.

JeremyStick,
The shifter cannot literally be shifted into 4wd, 4-low or 4-hi, or it can be shifted but isn't engaging?
Shifting should be made using quick motions. Shifting slowly may make it more difficult to shift.
Have you tried realigning the gear teeth in the transfer case?
If the transfer case shifter is in the Neutral position and you have difficulty reaching the selected transfer case mode, with the engine running, shift the transmission momentarily to drive and then back to Neutral. This will realign the gear teeth in the transfer case and allow you to complete the shift.
If this doesn't help, you may want to take the vehicle in for an inspection. A certified technician should be able to offer a more accurate diagnosis with a physical inspection.
Keep us posted.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

have you everused 4wd before?
Do you have manual locking hubs?
(little dials on the exterior of your front hubcaps)
try switching into Neutral then switching into 4
or ever try shutting the truck of after switching it into neutral.

sound like your actuator isnt engaging you should see if you have a fuse or a relay for the 4wd if you do check it and make sure is good if it is you should check for power with a multi meter down at the actuator it is located on the right side on the axle check this with key on and 4wd shifter shifted into 4 hi if you have power at the plug (you will want to unplug the actuator harness from the actuator to test) then you need to replace the actuator is the truck still under warranty?
