Chevy running gear

Chevy running gear
I have two rear ends out of older Chevy trucks that I am rebuilding for an off road truck. The running gear is 8 lug and it looks like a 10.5" end cover. The problem I am having is one of the rear ends is shorter then the other one. If I measure between were the backing plates bolt on one is about 53" and the other is about 58". Can you please help me identify what make and year truck that these two rear ends might have came off of. This running gear is off the older style with the solid front axle. Thanks for your help.

the smaller one may not have come from a truck. it may have come from a car or junior SUVs/minivans. look for casting numbers on the housings and then someone may be able to tell you.

If they are both 8 lug, like mentioned they are not from a car.
Get a measurement from face to face of where the rims bolt on.
Are they the same? Thus the difference is in the width of the brake shoes.
Which might be optional brakes.
Or maybe you have axles from a 3/4 ton and a single wheel 1 ton.
Or Pickup axle and a SUV or van axle.
