how in the crap can i get this bolt off everyrthing twist lol and i have nothing to go around the top of it

What I meant was the shock was just loose so they tightened the top bolt, problem solved.

You cut your bump stops off?! Yikes. Your arm is supposed to hit the bump stop when going over bumps and such, that's what they are there for - To keep your truck from completely bottoming out and either blowing the shock or a ball joint. Or am I missing something?

Try and get a grip on the shock body itself with your hand, you should be able to keep the body from moving that way when trying to loosen the nut it doesn't take much. But aren't you trying to tighten it since it may be the cause of your clunking sound?
