custom exhaust for 4.8 ideas?

I have Flowmasters on my 2004 Silverado (5.3L V8) with the pipes coming straight out the back. I had them custom-made by the local Meineke shop and they go from the cats back - TRUE dual exhaust - instead of one pipe going into two outlets.
I got the 50 Series, louder than the 70 Series but quieter than the 40 Series (which I think are too loud). I leave for work at 0300 sometimes and don't want to wake up the whole block when I fire it up.

The performance was enhanced a bit, but I did not notice any improvement in fuel economy. Perhaps that it is because the truck is so much more "fun" when you step down a bit on the accelerator.
I should probably consider a cold-air intake in the near future; but with the 3.73:1 axle and the sturdy 5.3L V8, it takes off just fine.
