Darn Carb

I have a 1981 Chevrolet Cheyenne, it has the original quadrajet on it and I was wonderin; when in park will the secondaries come open or is it just when the vehicle is in drive.

they shouldn't ,the rpms and the vacuum has to be just right when it goes wide open .
