Default Faulty flasher?

The flasher unit on my 1999 Silverado 2500 clicks irregularly when the turn signals are not on. Or, something else is clicking.
All the bulbs seem to be ok, including turn signals, parking lights, tailights and headlights.
Should I replace the flasher unit?

when it starts to make irregular clicking, turn on your flashers fast and see if it changes to regular or if blinkers change to irregular.. if you can hear that click and still one is irregular i wouldnt worry about it because its controlling something else

i'm not sure if this is the same noise you're hearing, but every once in a while i would hear this weird sound. can't say it was a clicking, but an odd noise. the only time it would turn off is when i would dim all the dash lights with the switch, so i knew it had to do something with the lights. it turns out there is a little bulb next to the fuse panel and another under the glove box. i changed these bulbs and noise gone. hope this helps
