Just bought an 06 2500hd 6.0 with 4x4 and i was looking it over and found something kinda disturbing. The front transfer case, the top mounting bracket where it looks like the poly bushing connects to the frame is completely cracked off. I have reason to believe that it was cause by plowing as the truck does have a plow mount on it. But with the truck only having 38k on it I didnt expect to see such a major malfunction as this. Would it be worth my time and money to try and remove the front t-case and have it welded back on or just buy an entire new one? Anyone else experience this with their truck? I will try and post pictures of it tomorrow for a better understanding of what im tralkin about.

 

im guessing you mean differential? theres only 1 tcase and if the frame is cracked it'll definately need fixed

to do it right you'll need to replace the differential housing but if you want to do all the work of removing and welding it good luck

 

X2. If you have it welded, BTW that is cast so you'd have to use nickel rod, This will forever be a weak point on it. Since it will have to be removed, I second replacing it.

 

Exactly my thoughts, because I will be doing the removal and install myself. Just wanted some other opinions. Thanks for the help guys.
