the cat is new less the a year old . the cat did have a leak before the cat at the y-pipe but that was fix . the muffler shop told me that it would not get ruin with a leak the cat.

It wouldn't hurt to check it anyway, being disconnected it could get a lot of water in it and rust.

I got a 96 305 w/cfi,and I am having a heck of a time getting it right,but was told to check my fuel pressure regulaor.Had to take off upper manifold and turn on key.if gas comes out of regulator,its bad.regulater was mounted on side of fuel meter body.Mine showed no leaks,but had part in hand so I replaced it.truck still runs like crap(see other post) still in search of cure.

these truks are bad about the popett valve sticking. are you geting codes. you said fuel pump was replaced. you have to relace whole ***.
