Default Heat stuck on

i have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500. having an issue that my air is constantly on HOT! thankfully i can shut off so i dont have hot air blowing @ all times, but regardless if i turn the a/c on, turn the fan on, or mess with the hot/cold gauge it just continues to blow supper hot air. the only way to stop is to turn the fan off. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Maybe you are in need of a recharge?
Not sure but I'd go to a place that will do a free check to see if it needs freon.

Sounds like a "mode door" actuator has gone bad. The mode door directs the incomming air either past the heater core or the AC evaporator. The control itself can also go bad, thus not telling the actuator to act.

thanks for the note. another wrinkle to the story is that i got back in the truck yesterday and everything works just fine. would this lead you to believe it might be the control for the mode actuator?
