Can hitch view be added to the camera system if not standard equipment. Is it just a software update to the rear camera system.

 

Probably but it’s not likely that any aftermarket options are available for doing so - you’ll have to talk to the dealer or contact GM customer service.

Your profile shows you have a 2020 Silverado - a PDF of the owners manual shows hitch guide can be turned on using the buttons at the bottom of the screen once you’re in reverse. Features for the rear view camera system are listed under the driver assistance systems, with the camera functions starting on page 255.

 

Apparently mine does not have this option. When I am in reverse I only have the option of either backup or hitch guidance view. The icon for hitch view does not appear. But thanks for the reply.

 

I do apologize for misunderstanding - I’m not familiar with all the features for the new Silverado, so I ASSumed hitch view and hitch guidance view were the same thing. Re-reading your first post and the owners manual a little more thoroughly, now I see my blunder.

It could be that the feature can still be turned on using the infotainment display, it’s just not explained in the owners manual - wouldn’t be the first time.

I still recommend seeing your dealer (unless someone else can post how) as it might be something you can convince them to add on for free, especially if you’ve purchased the truck in the past few months.

Curious what you found out at the dealer. I also have the hitch guidance view but the hitch view button is not showing so I assume that I do not have this feature. Can it be added and if so did you get a price to add?
