Hot ac
I`m new on this forum, hello to all. I hope someone has an answer for this one. I turned on the ac, nice cold air and
after a few miles it starts blowing out very hot air. I turned
the ac off and when i got to the store i turned it back on and checked under the hood, everything looked ok but still blowing
hot air. I was in the store about 15 or 20 minutes. When I came out and started
the engine, I turned on the ac and it was nice cold air
again. Anyone know what caused this??

Chuck70,
I am sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue. Have you spoken with your local dealership to confirm what the issue is?
Thank you

The local dealer wont tell me anything but that it will cost $80.00 to diagnose this problem. I bought this truck new it has 101000 miles and this hot air thing happened
only one time. I would to hear from people that had this happen to them. Will it
happen??
THANK YOU CHUCK70

Can't speak from experience, but if it's only happened once, I wouldn't worry about it. Something was probably blocking the condensor, but is gone now. If it happens again, then I would guess the compressor clutch is going out
when a/c blowing hot, compressor clutch not engaged, safely tap the compressor. Compressor should engage. If so, this tells me the pressure plate to pulley clearance is out of spec due to wear. Many clutches can be shimmed and will extend the life of the compressor. However many service shops will not repair the clutch only. They will suggest replacing compressor and etc... As this is a signof eventual compressor failure (2 years from now or next week. Who Knows?) So this job is left to the do it your selfer or shade tree mechanic. sorry for your troubles and good luck
Thanks to everyone
when i check at store, the compressor was on and runing but blowing hot air. Is there a circuit breaker or something in the
wiring system that might have caused this?
Thanks again chuck70

To clarify. When you say the compressor is running. The clutch on the end of the compressor is engaged and turning with the pulley? Not trying to belittle you just wanting to help. Compressor pulley turns whenever the engine is running. The clutch on the end of the pulley only turns when engaged. Clutch engaged and turning = compressor on.
Forgive me if I insulted you with that. Your scenario sounds like intermittent clutch not wanting to engage.
If the compressor is engaging as it should then more advanced diagnostics needed. Freon charge check etc...
