Default how to make my truck more fuel effecient

Hey yall. I am wondering what all I can do to make my truck get more mpg... I have a 2001 Silverado 2500hd. Its got quite a few miles on it and it is killing me to fill up at the pump. I am a high schooler and have a gf so money is tight to say the least! (lol) any ideas?

You probably know the obvious of keeping your foot out of the gas...but also keeping you foot off the brake...if you are having to brake to slow down, your probably over accelerating, coast as much as possible.
Keep your truck lite, don't carry around any weight you don't need.
Keep your tires properly inflated
Stay up on your maintenance
Turn off the vehicle at long lights or at train crossings, avoid any extended idling...
The biggest changes are going to come in your habits rather then in changes to the vehicle...

Installing a K&M air filter can add a mile or to to your mpg, but it will take a while to recoup the price difference over a standard air filter. A can of Seafoam in a tank of gas, i've heard, can improve performance as well as mpg.

6.0 in a 2500hd is not a good mpg combo. Check out blackbear performance

i have the same truck, and the best thing you can do for it, is to buy a custom tune from black bear. I have put alot of money into my 6.0 and average 13 mpg, and saw 14mpg once. no matter what your not going to make your money back, these trucks are not ment for gas milage.
