Default Lighting 96 1500

I have a 96 K1500 with pretty much the same front end as every other full size Chevy truck since 88 (I think). I want to add some driving/off road lights since the stock ones aren't up to the job in some situations, but I don't want to add a brush or bull guard just to get lighting mounts. I heard that you could just drill them into the bumper, if you want a hole. Other than a light bar like the one linked to below, are there any other good ways to mount lights or is drilling the way to go?
