Default !!!!muffler replacement???

I have an 08 silverado with the 5.3. I'm interested in just changing out the muffler none of the pipes just the muffler itself to get some better sound, and without hurting the performance any. I dont want it too loud and i hate the kinda poppy sound. how hard would it be for me to do this? what kind of muffler should i use?

A shop should be able to do it pretty cheap + the cost of the muffler. As far as mufflers go, it all depends on personal preferences.

I would talk to a muffler shop in your area, they would know how to give you what you want while protecting your warranty.

I have an 07 Silverado and just replaced the muffler today. I got a magnaflow, its sounds alil throatier on start up and a great sound upon givin her some gas. It really doesnt have alot of resonance in the cab while cruising down the highway though, which is EXACTLY what I wanted!! I couldnt be happier w/ my purchase, and the wife likes it too!

I did a muffler replacement on my 03 silverado, just the muffler... i put a super 40 series muffler on mine, it sounds freaken great, especially on accelerating...definitely Flowmaster though, don't waste your time at a muffler shop, your pipes are probably going to be 2.5" so get a 2.5" ID muffler... Any questions let me know

i think a flowmaster would be perfect especially if your just doing a muffler replacement get a big block 70 series not too loud and a nice mellow sound, sounds great with the 5.3's
