Default Mysterious starting problem

1999 6L, Auto, 4wd
When I start the truck for the first time in the day, it starts right up. Thereafter, it takes three tries to start. It just turns over without catching, twice, and then starts on the third try, though it does require some extra cranking. In other words, it never starts as easily as it does for the first time in a day. Even if it sits for six hours, it still has this problem. The time elapsed between the first starting of the day and the next time doesn't seem to make a difference.
I've had the codes run, and nothing shows up.
The problem has persisted for over two years, so I don't think it is the fuel filter.
A mechanic suggested the MAF might be going bad or the fuel pressure might be too low. But, for two years?
Hopefully, someone else has had this problem and can assist me.
I've worn out one starter, but, thankfully, the flex plate is holding up.
Thanks,
Joe

possible fuel pressure leakdown. I thinking injector or fpr
Install and fuel pressure gauge, cycle the key 3x to prime the fuel system. key off and note the pressure. check the pressure after 3, 5 and 10 minutes. Did the pressure drop?
