Default off road

When i finish putting my truck together 97 Z71, i plan to take it muddin (if i ever get any rain in south texas! ) and i want somebody to tell me how its done. theres no tracks where i live. but alot of people just use the back of their property. im probably going to use a friends instead of mine. so is there any preparation necessary? like give the trail a run-through or something? and afterwards ill spray it down. but is there any special spots i need to make sure are clean?

It's all about experience, there is different types of mud and different depths. Deep mud likes wide tires to keep from sinking, Shallow mud likes narrow tires to get the traction underneath and on it goes. Gerally it is better to drop your tire pressure under 20 lbs for serious hill and rock work on dry stuff. Just go play and make sure to be in walking distance of a tow or have a buddy in another truck with tow ropes and such.

don't just gun it into the mud either...like said it's bout experience. you can't just haul butt off in there that's when you tear stuff up, but you can't just creep either. keep a good steady pace and you'll still get dirty I promise.

Tell us more about your truck. Is it lifted? Does it have a Limited slip or locker in the rear? Does it have a Limited slip or locker in the front? What size, brand and type of tires are you running?
