Default oil pressure problem. need help

the oil pressure in my 2004 chevy 1500 is dropping. i got my oil changed 1000 miles ago and it has plenty of oil. it is usually around 38 psi while under idle and warmed up. It is dropping to about 32psi and at one point it dropped to 20psi. I usually change my own oil and i always put in good oil with a bottle of treatment. I had an oil change place do it this time. please help. thank you.

Default oil press

Change it yourself so you know what is in it. If you still have problems hook a good mechanical gauge to it so you know what is going on. I changed the sender on mine and lost 20 lb. of press.

I think the big thing to remember is these are not mechanical pressure gauges and are not perfect.

My new 5.3 motor in my 05 with 6k on it runs about 26psi hot idle and around 40 down the highway. Not much different than previous motor.

Typically not an engine problem. Either cluster issue or sending unit would be the place to start.
