03 silverado, i have noticed that when i start the truck it lunges forward just a smidge. is it a NSS? i can also start the truck without putting my foot on the brake.

What do you mean by start the truck without putting your foot on the brake? Do you mean you can shift from park without the brake? Every vehicle I've ever drove you didn't have to have your foot on the brake to start.

Sounds like the NSS for being able to shift it without the brake, as for the lunge, some trucks do that, my 89 did after my first rebuilt trans.

If it slams into gear, I'd have it looked at, but if the truck just lunges forward I'd let it be. Hopefully someone else can give you their opinion. If you have doubts, get it checked out.

if you are starting it up cold, and in park and it moves forward a little bit? and comes back, it is normal. my 03 when the temps get down to like 40* and the trans fluid is cold it will do it also. just cold, thicker trans fluid going thru the system at start up.. sorry i cannot explain it better.

hope this helps..
