Default problems with a chev 1500

Okay, I just got a 99 the other day its a 1500 4x4. When i pulled out of the guys drive way when i bought it, it started up just fine but now sometimes it will take a few trys to start it. i know its not the battery or the starter because it turns over just fine. sometimes it wil start up but then lose RPMs and die, and other times it will take 10-20 seconds before starting. It has new plugs and fuel pump. I was thinking maybe spark plug wires? So does anyone have any idea's?

It does sound like your fuel pressure regulator is sticking shut.

Just throwing this out there, but what about the Intake Manifold gasket or distributor?

From About.com:
An easy way to test for an FPR leak in the vacuum side is to replace the vacuum line going into the FPR with a length of clear tubing. Now you'll be able to see leak as it happens. IT will most likely show failure when your vacuum is at its lowest point, as in during acceleration.

That is what I was able to find searching the net.

The only problem with it being the distributer is why would it cut out after a few seconds and then not start at all. I doesn't sound like distributer symptoms. Hold on, see if you can wiggle your distributer.
