Default Rebuilding my 1992 Chevy 350

Hello, I am brand new to this sight.
I am going to be rebuilding my stock 350 with 160,000 miles on it. It has 210 hp and 300 tq stock, I want to bump this by %20-%30. I have found a rebuild kit on Mabbcomotors.com for $450,(this is with a few upgrades, $275 originally) this is a master rebuild kit with all needed parts, including an upgraded RV cam, and flat top hypereutectic pistons. I have also found a edelbrock intake part number 3704 from an O'Reillys part store. I cannot afford heads at this point, so with these changes, does it seem possible to gain %20? I may clean the heads a little with a grinder, just hitting the big stuff anyways.
As this will be a daily driver and a truck, I do not want anything too crazy, and I want LOTS of torque, hp is not my main goal here, I am looking for power from idle to 5500 RPM's. Thanks for any help.

Wow, 177 views and not one reply? Is this an old worn out topic or something? I could not find a similar topic in my searches.

I'm not real sure about everything else but I will tell you it's a terrible idea clean your heads with a grinder. Any imperfections will lead to leaks and blown gaskets.

Ported and cleaned my heads, they are the 193 swirl heads. Truck seems to run like new again! I just ordered my rebuild kit from Mabbcomotors.com, should be here late next week.

Hey man how's it going on the rebuild? I also have looked into some upgrades on the tbi setup, but from what I've read it's easier to get more power just going back to carburetor. My 92 350 has 282,000 miles on it so I've thought about just doing a crate motor. I wish I could help but I'm kinda in the same position here I really don't know how much more power those mods will make.
