Default reverse gear
1998 chrvy will go forard in all gears but will not goin reverse.fluid are all good an not smell burnt. any help thanks James

Sounds like the reverse input clutchs are burnt or not applying. Did you drive the vehicle, does it shift to second gear or does it rev out then shift to 3rd. If so then i would say the reaction sun shell is strip. That is a common problem with these transmissions. They redesigned a new one but if your not going to a dealer i would have the beast sunshell installed. Those are very tough i have used them in the past with no problems.

we put seafoam trans fluid conditioner and it works fine now. any idea what was wrong.thanks for any advice. James

Restricted passage or a shift valve hanging up.
