Default rubbing noise when turning left

Greetings !

I have a 2004 silverado 1500 ext. cab./ 85k

When turning left, at a slow speed, I hear a rubbing noise, (rubber?) and feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel.

no clunks or bangs like I've read about.

Steers fine, back roads, and hwy.

P/S fluid is full.....no leaks underneath.

serpentine belt is tight.

Can anyone out there guide me in the right direction please ?

Would like to do this repair myself.

Thank-you in advance.

Could be. I'd suggest jack it up, and pull on the wheel to feel for any play in it.

checked wheel bearing,No play in wheel.

Sounds like rubber against metal.

actually sounds like it's coming from the firewall

Could it be the blower motor, since you say sounds like it is comming from the firewall?

don't think it's a blower motor.
feels like it's in steering column.

I read there's an intermediate steering shaft.

Anyone have any insight??

Thanks !

sounds like the seal that the steering shaft goes through at the firewall is dry. Spray some silicone on the seal. My truck does the same thing. it is a squeel/ moan sound.
