Shutting Off Auto-Reverse Tape Deck
I started using a cassette adapter in my 2000 Silverado to connect my iPod as I don't want to use an FM Transmitter. The thing is, I've run into the dreaded auto-reverse/eject problem. My setup is that my head unit is the SCV/CD Player unit and I have a tape deck as the slave. There is no documentation in the manual on how to stop the auto-reverse on this type of deck. I've held REV-FWD for five seconds as well as CD/AUX but neither works. Anybody have ideas?
Tape decks?? People still use em??Seriously though, I dunno man, I havent messed with a tape deck in a long time. Do yourself a favor and go with the alternative method to save the headache, do what zkgraves said. My personal opinion trying to combine technology from the 80's and the 00's never turn's out well with compatibiltiy and quality.Whats buggin you about the FM Transmitter? Is it the sound quality, cause I guarantee you its better than whats transmitted through a cassette.
I had the same problem with my cassette unit when I tried to usea cassette adapter for my portable cd player. I dont think it likes the cassette adapters because i tried several of them but it will play cassettes fine. I installed a factory cd changeraseveral years ago but i did think about geting the auxadapter that would allow youto connect a mp3 player. But i didnt have oneat the time.
The PIE GM9-AUX will convert the 9-pin CD Changer/Slave Cassetteport onthe factory radio into an Auxiliary Audio input. Once the GM9-AUX is installed you can connect any audio device directly into the vehicle's factory stereo system. the audio from your MP3 Player, iPod, DVD, Satellite Radio, Walkman, X-BOX or whatever you have will have a direct connection to your radio, whicheliminates the need for a FM modulator. The only thing is that you have to disconnect the cassette slave unit from the factory radio in order to use it. You can leave the cassette player there or if you dont use it, you can install the factory pocket in place of it. They seem to go for 40.00 on up but I saw one on ebay for 18.00. I hope this helps.
