They make additives that MIGHT help, if you have carboned up piston rings, in case that's an issue. But It's hit or miss with those cleaners. Sometimes they work well, sometimes they don't. Carbon is very hard, so some have you pour down the cylinder and let it soak in, before you run it. If I did that, I'd change the motor oil not long after to get all the sludge and carbon out of the engine.Even ACDelco sells a top end cleaner.
I've been seriously thinking about rebuilding the engine. Im afraid with that many miles on it more things will eventually start failing. They have complete kits for $800. Id like a crate motor but between the price for one plus shipping cost . Not to mention they want a core return. It was $450.00 for shipping the crate motor and $450 to ship mine to back to them. The engine itself was like $ 1600.00. Anyways does anybody have suggestions or advice on rebuilding kits. Manufacturers, do's and don't,
etc. Thanks in advance
