We bought this a month ago, ran great, no problems. I stopped for a light, the truck died. Pushed it out of traffic, looked for a problem. Had spark, had fuel, did not even try to run, backfired thru the intake once. Towed home.
The people that sold it had put o a new water pump, and said something about the timing gears. So stupidly we started taking it apart, got to looking at the water pump, and thought about the distributor.
Pulled the wires (big mistake), took off the cap and there was one of the rotor screws sticking thru the back of the cap, rotor took a beating too.
New cap & rotor, wired it per Chilton's. Standing in front of truck #1 is at about seven o'clock, no start. Have been told #1 is at about 3 o'clock, changed wires. Still no start, has spark, has fuel, checked with timing light.
Looks good to me. All the stuff is still off the front of engine, still has the w.pump on, all the vac. lines and elect. are holed up, except for the one to a/c (fan clutch ?).
Going crazy here; any HELP; Please.
