Trailer Towing Help

I have 2009 Chevy Silverado installed with:
HD Trailering Equipment Package which is:
Locking Rear Differential, handling/trailering suspension
I have a tandem axle trailer with one brake on one of the axles. I was wondering what my Tow/Haul mode does for me, and if I should install a brake controller system. Is it difficult do I have the right truck to get the job done?
thanks in advance for any help.

It also down shifts when you step on the brakes.
It has no effect on trailer brakes.
You must have an IBC (Integrated Brake Controller) if you have the tow package.
If you are hauling heavy, you may want an after market controller.
Its easy to test, all you do is operate it while going slowly.
No need to use you brakes, it should bring you to a stop.
