Tranny Problem??
#11
Well, this break came at the worst time. I was about to sell it in about a month becasue i wanted to buy a 2500 deisel. Because the truck wasn't towing well as well as i wanted. And it was towing a 4000+ pound tandom axle trailer for 2+ hour on end of ontario hills.

the other possibility is the forward clutches burned out because of the towing. you won't see metal, but fluid might smell a little burnt, or have an orangish, maybe slight brown tint to it. if you plan on selling, i would find a used tranny that still works, throw it in, and go from there.

what would the best diesel truck to get from here? for least maitenence and longgevity? i've been told that the Cummings is the best motor and that allesin transmition is the best and ford bodys are the best. looking for a netual answer. it would replace this truck

Cummins with a stick, all Dodge transmissions seem to have trouble, up to the stickshift from 07 and up. Their autos are crap. The Powerjoke... Thats all there is to say. The D-max is the best all around. Good engine Great transmissions. Until you start hopping up the D-max, then you'll have issues.

Lets all agree Ford is out of the Question.
But i've always been up in the air for the Cummins and the Allison.
Also For me getting a used transmition, what seals should i change before i swap the tranny's?
