Default Tranny question for 00' Z71 1500 with 5.3

New to the forum. Searched this site and could not find anything that matched the issue I am having. Truck has 128K miles on it and runs great. The issue which I have been having is when I am in the 60-70mph range running about 2,000 rpms in OD and I get on the gas to accelerate, the transmission seems to shift back and forth from 3rd to OD like it can't make up it's mind. I have been manually shifting to 3rd to eliminate this problem. Tran fluid was changed at 90K but I am not sure if they changed the filter. From what I have been reading, could that be the issue?

Thanks for the help.

I have a 1999 nbs and had to have the Tranny rebuild after I purchased it. I had something similar to your problem but it would start shifting really hard. I would have to turn the truck off and restart and it would shift normally. The transmission shop told me the 1999 truck had a problem where the valve body plate in the transmission would wear out and cause all kinds of issues.

I know yours is a 2000 but maybe you have the same issue as I did. Maybe you can get away with just replacing the valve body plate without having to do a complete rebuild. I did not want to take any chances so I had mine rebuilt.
