dont be afraid to service it if its at 90000 and not burnt smelling. just change the atf. i felt the same way at 90000 for my 98 2 months ago so i just said screw it im doing it before anything happens. changed the gasket filter like im supposed to. found out it was done before and the person used gasket maker with the gasket and some of the sealer got into the filter luckily not into the system. i took apart the filter and found small small specs of the gasket and fabric from when it was serviced. i used a magnifying glass so thats a perspective of how small things were. but in any case, i work at jiffy lube and so i just did my truck myself and everything looks good. just do it. if you feel the need, use some lucas transmission friction modifier. my friend used it when he said he was getting a lot of slippage and it fixed it. it was on an olds aurora 2001 with over 100000 miles. he said it shifts nicely no sticking or anything. but my opinion, do the flush. you need to. when you get it done, ask to see the trans pan and the magnet inside so you can see all the metal shavings from your trans. dont worry thats exactly what it does. its friction. thats why theres a magnet to catch it.
