Transmission flush does it void extended warranty ?
Hello
45,000 service dealership wants 475.00 + tax
for transmission flush and something with fuel system service
Does flushing your own transmission fluid and filter replacement void your extended warranty
2017 chevy Silverado 1500
my brother offer to do it for me.
Thanks
Jill

Not all DIY services void warranties. In the case of transmission service, make sure to use GM specific transmission fluid - I can’t remember what the most recent version of Dexron is, but it should be in the owners manual under “Capacities and specifications.”
Read the terms of the warranty - it will specify exactly what you can and can’t DIY.

I’m not saying GM will make that specific argument, but what your service rep tells you and what the management team above the service rep decides can often be 2 different things. The service rep wants to help you receive the best service possible - meanwhile the manager(s) above the rep are trying to save money anywhere they can and have no problem putting your service rep in a position to take the blame.

Is the trans flush a listed needed maintenance item fro your vehicle, or just a recommendation? If yes, maybe have an independent licensed mechanic do it at a more reasonable price, and better protect your warranty. If not required maintenance, why is it being recommended?
