I can't remove the key form my 97 1500. The key will start the truck and shut it off, but will not turn back far enough to remove it and the Park light indicator stays on. Also , I can shift through all the gears without touching the brake.

Thinking its either the Park/neutral switch or the brake interlock, but most of the problems people have are with it not being able to shift and I have the opposite problem. Looking for advise on where to start troubleshooting

Well the key not coming out of the ignition is the sign of a bad lock cylinder. The whole gears shifting without the brakes needing to be pressed is the sign of a bad brake interlock (park lock system).
