Default What is avg. water pump life?

I have a 2003 Silverado 2500HD. It has 83,000mi and I'm curious as to avg life of the water pump.

I would say average of 100k miles or so in my experiences

depends on the maintenance
my truck has 238,000 miles with the origional pump...how? idk

I got a drip at 101k on my truck and 110k on my Tahoe.

the pump on my '89 went until 150k. then the new one went to 287k, I rebuilt the engine and put a new one on.

my 2003 4.8 L went out at 160K

its all diffrent i guess..

Depends on lots of things, but most usually last 100K-150K or 8 to ten years.

Lots of maintenance helps. However, everything has a limited lifetime including water pumps.
With water pumps, it boils down to how good the bearing and seal are to start, but one always has
exceptions like yours.

I have a 2008. 6.0 with 150,000 miles. Still the original pump. Changed the Dexcool coolant at 5 years and plan to change it again this year. Might be proactive and change the water pump. If I do I’ll probably use an AC Delco OE water pump.
