Good afternoon all, I hope everyone reading this is safe from the current viral outbreak. I drive an 08 Chevy Aveo and about a year ago my check engine light came on, a friend of mine pit on a used replacement camshaft position sensor. It worked and the check engine light turned off, the same code came on again 8 months after that.

My friend replaced it with a brand new camshaft position sensor, and the sensor again turned off, but this time only for about 4 days. I haven't noticed any performance issues and 2 friends of mine (who are mechanics) can't figure out why.

I have a car inspection at the end of next month, what should I do/how do I pass it since I can't get the check engine light to stay off?

Edit: I have never experienced any performance issues related to my camshaft position sensor.

 

what exactly is the diagnostic trouble code?

 

To be honest I can't remember and I just had it read today, I will have it done and post it. But I related the wrong part, I edited my post, thank you for your help.
