you could always cut the drl wire that goes into the factory harness and instead of that wire going to the factory harness run it to a switch that you can buy at auto parts stores. otherwise since your car doesnt have the override switch sounds like your sol. the wiring of the aftermarket switch is pretty simple.

No, because the DRL and the headlights were, at least on the metro, separate from each other. There was another way that if you disconnected the ground wire from the hand break it would turn off the lights. The on problem was that the brake light would always stay on.

There is a very simple solution to add a switch to shut off your DRL's. The switch can be located in the far left of the dash where there is room to mount it.

Here's a link for instructions on how to do it, including photos (click here). Scroll down to post #9.

On our 2010, the DRL go out when the parking brake lever is activated. Just one click will put the DRL out but it is not enough to activate the parking brake so the brake shoes should not wear. The trouble is that when you do that, the brake warning light comes on in the dash so you are looking at a bright red warning light all of the time.

As posted by Theclarkfam, pull you parking brake up one click and your running lights will go out. The problem is that the brake warning light in your dash will come on.
