Exclamation oil/coolant

Another conern do the oil run thru the thermostat housing assembly? Not the part where the thermostat is located the part the hoses connect to.

What other parts on the motor does oil and coolant lines run through at the same time?

Service information shows more than one 1.6L engine. The engine are identified by RPO code. The RPO label is in the glove box or in the trunk near the spare tire. Do you have LXT 1.6L or one of the following LDE, LLU, and LXV 1.6L.

The older style engine LXT dose not have the water outlet with thermostat the picture you posted above.

If you have the newer style engine LDE, LLU, or LXV 1.6L. it will have this water outlet. But this water outlet dose not have oil going thou it and their for can't be the source of the internal oil leak.
The newer engine also has a oil cooler. The oil cooler has both oil and coolant passing thou it and if it or it's gaskets fail it could cause oil to leak into the coolant. I haven't ever seen one fail yet. The oil cooler assembly witch also includes the oil filer housing is located under the exhaust manifold

Question Chocolate Milk

The head gasket been changed for the second time and now I have a chocolate milk color in the reservoir. Look like oil is being poured directly into the coolant oil is on top and course the coolant is on the bottom. People are saying they have never heard of a oil cooler if it is the issue. One guy says it is the oil cooler and the ones that never heard of it saying I need a new motor. Well this had become very frustrating. Any ideas or pictures of what I am to look for under the manifold if it does actually have one no one has never heard about?

Someone mentioned an oil cooler . That sounds like a place that has both oil and coolant in close proximity .

They show up on rockauto.com for $ 23 - $ 50 plus shipping . Something to think of ?

God bless

Yes I ask lots of mechanics and even the dealership I brought car from told me my car did not have one(oil cooler). On top of all this madness the whole belt stopped turning car ran hot and I was told the harmonica balancer stop turning which stopped the whole belt from turning not sure so I just brought another motor and when mechanic took it out what do you find yep the oil cooler. It's something how dealer could not tell me if it had an oil cooler on it based on their computer it does not even show one but there is one??? Very strange.

I was wrong about the price . :-( ( I have to say , I am familiar with coolers for Automatic Transmission Fluid , but not for engine oil . )

ACDELCO 93186324 Oil Cooler | RockAuto

I think I would avoid that dealership . The parts department should have been able to find it in their reference material . If I could find it on the internet .

I think the harmonic balancer is made in 2 parts with rubber in between . I have heard of the rubber going bad and separating between the 2 metal parts . Thus , the pulley part is no longer turning . But this , I think on the AVEO would be the serpentine belt ?

On your engine . I think the water pump is driven by the cam belt ? Very confusing as it is a different belt and the 2 belts are not driven by the same pulley . Even though both are attached to the passenger side end of the crankshaft .

I am not sure , but it could be people are telling you what they want you to hear ?

Have you gotten the other motor installed yet ? Does it run OK ?

Best of luck . :-)

God bless

Default OIL in Reservoir UPDATE!!

Yes I have the other motor installed it runs like it had before minor leaks but it has a small miss or jerk something like a stall kind of I am thinking its the fuel filter thou I changed the coil set up and spark plugs thinking it maybe fire but it still does it but it goes away once it runs for few mins. Only does it at startup and then clears out no engine light comes on at all.

Do not know if it is a fuel filter or not . But RockAuto.com has them for less than $ 10 + freight . I suspect it is located under the car , somewhere between the fuel tank ( IN THE BACK ) and the engine ( in the front ) .

God bless

Default Chevy aveo

The oil on stick still is in normal range when checked so where is this coming from. There was a test performed by firestone to see if there where leaks in the system and they say nothing showed up they think its oil still in system. So took everything off ran water thru heater core and radiator etc for about an hour. Problem still exists so now I am puzzled to what is the next step? Could it still be oil trapped in the system somewhere as much oil in this reservoir its crazy. If you do the radiator flush stuff how much to put in and how long to leave it in there drive it with it in there?? UGGHH!! FRUSTRATING!!!
I have a Chevy aveo 2011 and had the same problem and did pretty much the same thing as you did to try and fix the problem. Finally, I found out it was the oil cooler. I think mine was in front of the radiator at the bottom.
Mine cost about $100 to replace
Hope this helps!

you better check the transmission ! it could be the cooler inside the radiator has a hole and letting transmission fluid in with the antifreeze ! if that's the case than change the radiator and transmission fluid !
