I recently added a leveling kit to the front end of my 08 Tahoe Z71. The passenger side front is approximately 1/2 higher than the driver's side. The installer checked the kit and everything measured out fine. I called the local Chevy service dept and was told that GM allows for up to a 1" difference when the vehicle is stock... Does this sound right? If so, how can I bring the "lower" side up .5"? This is driving me nuts... The kit is Ready Lift. Thanks in advance for your help!

 

ready lift is a good kit .was it level before you added it ?is it torsion keys?or coil overs just looked on there web site ,was it a #66-3090 ? looks like it is adjustable ! to level .

 

make sure your taking the measurements on a level surface.
Just becasue a driveway is flat doesnt make it even or level. take the measurments in a different driveway or parking lot.
If its a visual difference you can see on a know flat level surface I would suspect something was installed incorrectly maybe a spring wasnt put back in its seat, something was installed under torque on one side causing it to pull down or force the other side up.
Just some thoughts...

 

Thanks for the response. I cannot say for certain that it was level at stock. The Ready Lift kit I have is not the adjustable one. It is a two part add-on... one 2" aluminum spacer on top of the coil, and one small 3/8" spacer at the bottom. Heck, it was about 3/4" higher on the passenger side BEFORE we decided to take off the 3/8 bottom spacer to bring it down a bit. The math doesn't add up but now it sits .5" off. The installer and I are both scratching our heads.

 

I wonder if it is a difference in the springs, pull the springs and measure them off the vehicle...

 

Thanks for your thoughts. I've measured it on many different surfaces and I get a consistent measurement each time. It's off... I'm thinking about taking the kit off, returning to stock, getting a measurement, and then figure out a plan...

 

At the top of the spring just below the mount is a thick piece of rubber. After time the spring makes a indent in the rubber.If I had to take a guess I would say when the spring was reassembled the ends of the spring was not put back into the indent in the rubber which would make the assembly taller than it would be if it was in the indent. The indent is usually 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. The installer needs to remove the assemblies and carefully examine them side by side. If the truck was not off before ther is no way the kit caused this problem.

 

NBS has coils all around. No longer uses torsion rods in front. Not to nitpick but just so someone doesn't get wrong info.

 

coils yes; but still a solid axle in the *** end does said leveling kit void any warrentied parts? post some pics! before + after if you can
