Default 07 tahoe bug shield?? Gm or aftermarket??

Ordered a lund bugshield for my 07 tahoe. Did not like the way it ataches to the front exterior edge of the hood. 2nd choice I ordered a GM deflecter it isn't as bad but is very similar, where it also ataches to the hood edge. Does anyone have a better idea or a better product? my 06 bug guard was fine and did not have the the ataching clips rubbing the front of the hood. I am afraid it will mar the paint, with the flexing , maybe even crack the paint. Please help with your suggestions, winter is coming.

My GM one came with a thick clear tape that covers the paint where the clip attaches. Did yours not come with the tape?

Glad someone posted about this I was looking into the purchase of a deflector also. Sounds very disappointing that you need to put tape on your paint to keep it from getting scratched up from the mounting. Sounds like I need to start looking into a bra maybe? any ideas on something like that??

Yes it did come with the tape to put on the paint before you tighten the set screw against it. Sounds like a poor system to me. I think a plastic clear coating might be a good idea if someone sells it?

I am not sure if someone mentioned bra meaning the big black lebra things? However i had one on an old mustang and it rubbed the paint raw underneath, that isnt the way to go.

Cross, you mentioned the clear coating things. I believe I have seen them on ebay, but I know nothing about them.

I've had the factory hood protector (bug shield) on my Tahoe since June and have not had any issues with the item.
The thin metal mounting tabs had to be used this year to secure the hood protector due to the lack of gap between the hood and grill; the tolerances on this new Tahoe are tighter to enhance the aerodynamic drag coefficient.

The ClearBra systems are good if applied correctly but they are not easy for the do-it-yourselfer, for the cost to have it professionally installed you could have your front clip re-painted twice over.

Do you ever plan on taking the bug shield off?

I am happy with mine, if that matters.

I have the GM shield on my '07 with over 11000 miles and have had no problems.
