hey guys my wifes 07 tahoe with factory dvd player will not eject dvd it keeps giving me a optical error. any suggestions on how to get it out!

 

gotta remove the stereo from the dash and take off the lid and pull the disc out by hand.

 

Always make sure that any DVDs or CDs are clean before inserting.

the problem is the motor in the optical sensor(the laser) wont move to read the disc. This is the tell tale sign of a gone unit. It is the same thing in home DVDs and CD player also. The real problem is it costs $300 IF you can get the optical drive to rebuild the unit but $300-400 to replace it with an aftermarket brand with similar or better features.

I see you're already receiving great feedback from the forum members here, so I just wanted to make you had tried pressing and holding the DVD eject button for more than five seconds to force the disc to eject. I realize that you have probably already attempted this, but I wanted to confirm.

Actually had a similar problem and the DVD looked like a jelly sandwich.

Spouse's Tahoe and grandkids.

 

I believe it, when my boy was younger we had a problem with the DVD player in the house. The tray wouldnt open. I took off the top and there you have it! This boy stuck popsicle sticks in the dang machine which jammed up the tray.

 

I think it’s a bad optical sensor or motor inside the sensor. Disconnect the battery terminals and connect it again, it might solve your problem; otherwise replace the motor or optical sensor.
